FAQs
It'san innovative collar that protects your pets from ticks and fleas for up to eight months. This means that you don have to worry about more frequent applications of flea and tick treatments, and there is no risk of forgetting to do so.
Our innovative technology enables it to release controlled doses of the active ingredients over a long period of time. The ingredients are transferred to your pet skin and coat, and spread across his entire body, keeping him protected from ticks and fleas for up to eight months.
Our product contains two active ingredients: imidacloprid, which kills adult fleas, and flea larvae; and flumethrin, which repels and kills all life stages of ticks.
Ticks may still get onto your pet coat when he brushes past them, even if he wearing the collar. The active ingredients work on contact, which means the tick needs to grab onto the fur to get exposed to the active ingredient. However, once they have climbed on, the ticks will fall off and die. You may therefore sometimes see ticks tangled in your dog fur.
As the vast majority of active ingredients are bound in the collar matrix and not on the surface, they are not released or absorbed when the collar gets chewed. If any, mild gastrointestinal signs may be seen. Nevertheless chewing should be avoided and if your dog manages to get his own collar into his mouth it likely that it is applied too loosely. Ideally two fingers fit between the collar and your dog neck.
It safe for use on puppies aged seven weeks and older.
No. It's even important to put it on without any delay to assure a continuous protection of your dog.
No, it doesn. Our product is odourless, so there are none of the unpleasant smells you usually associate with flea and tick collars.
We are not aware of mud having an impact on the release of the active ingredients in the collar and hence its efficacy. A normal, small amount of dirt would not be expected to be an issue. There could be an impact if the mud is thick and creates a barrier between the collar and the coat of your dog. The collar has been extensively tested in real-life households, with outdoor dogs and cats, with no reduction in efficacy. If the collar does get dirty, you can simply wipe it down with a moist cloth.
No, you shouldn attach a leash to the collar, as the force of your pet pulling against it would potentially open the safety mechanism. Use your normal collar in addition to the collar to attach the leash. Our product has been fully tested with safety reflectors specially developed for collars, but no other items have been tested, so theye not recommended especially if they cover the surface of the collar.
The collar does not need to be removed when a dog goes swimming or is bathed. The active ingredients are contained in the collar matrix and will not be released into water. They spread through the lipid layer of the dog's skin and hair and even if this lipid layer is partially washed off by bathing, the collar will quickly replenish the active ingredients and the pet will be protected again.
However, prolonged, intense exposure to water or extensive shampooing should be avoided as the duration of activity may be reduced. Studies showed that monthly shampooing or water immersion did not significantly shorten the 8 months efficacy duration for ticks after redistribution of the active substances in the coat whereas the product flea efficacy gradually decreased, starting in the 5th month.
The collar is water-resistant. It remains effective following swimming, the use of a mild shampoo with non-detergent ingredients, or exposure to rain or sunlight. There is no need to remove the collar for swimming. Under normal conditions, i.e. less than one bath per month, it effective for up to eight months; for dogs that swim or bathe frequently, the control duration for fleas is reduced to five months.
The collar is designed with a safety-release mechanism. In the unlikely event of your pet being trapped, the collar will widen when he gives a hard pull, allowing for a quick release. The small dog collar has a two step safety mechanism as it is additionally equipped with a predetermined breaking point, so a harder pull will break it.
The white powder is caused by stearic acid, a release agent used in the production process to make it easier to release the collar from its mold.
Stearic acid is completely safe and also graded for use in certain foods. The white powder normally disappears within a few days after application of the collar to your animal but if you prefer, you can simply wipe it off with a cloth.
Absolutely. The collar can be worn alongside your dog usual collar without compromising its efficacy, as long as contact with hair and skin is evident.
There is a slim chance that your dog might develop mild reactions such as scratching, redness and hair loss. These symptoms usually disappear within one to two weeks, without removing the collar, as your dog gets used to wearing it. In some cases, temporary collar removal may be recommended until the symptoms have disappeared. In very rare cases in dogs, application site reactions such as dermatitis, inflammation, eczema or lesions may occur and in these instances, collar removal is recommended. Please consult your vet if the symptoms persist or become more severe.
Puppies grow at different rates and we recommend frequent checks of the collar and readjustment if necessary. Watch the video above to see how to fit your collar properly, and always follow the guidelines that are provided.
We strongly discourage you from doing this. This method of application hasn been tested and it might have an impact on the level of protection your pet receives. For the best flea and tick protection, the collar should be used all year round. However, if youe removed the collar only temporarily (e.g. during grooming), you can reapply it without any problems.
Used collars or any remnants should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements. The product should not enter water courses.
